Discipleship Training School (DTS)

The DTS is the primary discipleship program of Youth With A Mission.  More than 1 million people have completed a DTS during the past 50 years!  The goal of the DTS is to "know God and make Him known."  It is a 20 week program of which the first 12 weeks are devoted to classes on topics that are critical to the formation of a disciple of Christ.  Some of the  topics include the areas of: Intimacy with God, the Character and Nature of God, the Father heart of God, Intercession, Relationships, Spiritual warfare, Supernatural ministry, Missions as well as other topics.  Each week a different teacher addresses a topic in the program using a variety of teachng techniques.  Another part of the DTS is learning to work together as a team through daily work assignments. Intercessory prayer sessions as well as times of worship, preparation and training for outreach ministries and group activities are also part of the DTS experience.  It is a challenging time of learning and applying the revelation God gives to the students as they dedicate this time to spiritual development.

The final 8 weeks of the DTS is dedicated to cross-cultural outreach.  During the outreach phase we dedicate 30 hours each week to evangelism and conduct mercy ministries and bathe everything we do in intercessory prayer to reach the lost. Our focus is to "make Him known" wherever we go and we use whatever methods and opportunities available to present Christ to a lost world.  The outreach phase is the student's opportunity to put into practice the principles learned in the classroom and develop the gifts that God has give them in a team setting.  It is a time of stretching and sacrifice but also a time of growth and life long memories of seeing God at work.

University of Nations

YWAM Antigua is affilitated with YWAM International. The Discipleship Training School (DTS) conducted by YWAM Antigua is accredited by YWAM’s University of the Nations. The U of N courses are uniquely structured to integrate intercession, worship and praise into every course. The living out of God’s ways is to be apparent in student and staff relationships – in forgiveness, openness, repentance, honoring the gifts and abilities of each person, unity, teamwork, hospitality, servant leadership and loving one another as commanded by Jesus. The U of N has developed a modular approach to education which allows students to concentrate on only one course for an entire term. The concentrated study in one subject area during a twelve-week term prepares the student to be able to work effectively in a subsequent field assignment.
